Honoring my Body as a Sacred Vessel
Our bodies are remarkable vessels that grant us the full human experience, from love and connection to pain, growth, and emotion. For years, I carried shame regarding my body, constantly pushing it beyond its limits with excessive work, overexercise, and unhealthy habits, neglecting self-compassion.
In 2020,
I embarked on a journey of self-discovery, realizing the importance of caring for my body. I began practicing mindfulness, daily dancing and movement, and adopted a healthier bedtime routine as I left my phone and laptop in another room in the early evening. I removed alcohol from my diet and discontinued birth control, acknowledging the havoc it had wreaked
on my hormones for the majority of my life.
In 2021,
I shifted my focus to intuitive eating and holistic nutrition, aiming to reduce stress, adrenal fatigue, and heal my hormones through dietary changes, exercise, and acupuncture and Chinese medicinal herbs. I also addressed inflammation by eliminating dairy and gluten from my diet.
In 2022,
I prioritized rest and healing. I delved into the healing practice of herbalism and functional nutrition counseling to balance my hormones, aligning my routines with the natural cycles of the Earth.
In 2023,
my focus has been on strengthening my muscles and bones through weight training, tending to old injuries in my neck and spine, and seeking the aid of Rolfing, bodywork, and chiropractic care to improve my posture. I've incorporated microdosing psychedelic mushrooms and functional mushrooms into my routine for enhanced energy and mental clarity.
This ongoing transformation has taught me to appreciate my body as a precious gift, nurturing it with love and self-care. It constantly offers lessons if we're willing to listen.
