The Power of Boundaries and Structures in Self-Care
In our journey to self-care, we will likely learn the importance of setting boundaries and creating structures in your life to conserve and protect your greatest asset - your energy!
I began understanding the power of setting boundaries and creating supportive structures in my life when I began to prioritize my needs. From noticing what I was consuming on social media, to being discerning of who I spend my time with, to having accountability for my growth by enrolling in therapy and coaching programs, boundaries and structures can be created for all areas of life. They can lead to feelings of liberation, self-empowerment, and helps you clear space in your life for what's most important.
What are Boundaries & Structures?
Boundaries are limitations you set with self and others that help us honor our values and priorities. Boundaries can be physical, verbal, emotional, intellectual, sexual, spiritual, or energetic. Most boundaries cannot be seen with the eye but can be profoundly felt. Without healthy boundaries, we can be left feeling drained, we can lose our sense of self, become easily overwhelmed or even resentful with the people and situations of life.
Structures can be rituals or habits that you implement to help you to feel balanced in your mind, body, and spirit. Structures you set in place can support you through difficult times and changes in your life. Structures can help you maintain focus and keep you on track toward your goals. Without structures set in place, it may lead to leaky or scattered energy, a lack of direction or purpose, feelings of hopelessness or resistance to growth.
